Sir Hugh dies
Sir Hugh Laddie died on November 29th. He was 62 years old.
…quae nunc abibis in loca…?
He stepped down from the court a couple of years ago. I never asked him why. He, however, told something. The British judges are duly admired in all world. They pay a price. It is a lonely job, in any case on the appellate level.
He had recently started as a professor of Intellectual property Law at the University College London.
When I come to think of that, Pumfrey also died recently. Same court.
Sir Hugh was one of the best-known experts of copyright and patents in all world. The tremendous book on copyright (Laddie – Prescott – Vittoria et. al.) is in a class of its own.
I publish here some photos from last time in Helsinki, some years ago.
The trout and salmon we often discussed continue their life in the brooks of this country. So do friends, for a while.
